If you went to see Monsters vs. Aliens over the weekend, you might have seen an animated president Stephen Colbert mimicking the "musical notes" scene from CE3K with none other than my least favorite synth of all time, a Yamaha DX7. It should also be noted, as well, that there are no preset rhythms, as depicted in the film, onboard a DX7. I thought it was nice that the filmmakers shouted out something that synth fans already knew.
